Down Syndrome Centre
Down Syndrome Centre is a charity working to provide improved information and services to parents, families and carers of children with Down syndrome.
In 2009 we created and established the role of Ireland's first Down Syndrome Liaison Nurse to the Paediatric Department of AMNCH Tallaght. The nurse provides support, advice and guidance to parents whose child has been born with Down syndrome in Dublin maternity hospitals and at home on request.
With the support of funds raised by Buy My Dress, we aim to support the employment of further liaison nurses to maternity hospitals in Cork and Galway.
Our investment in the development of professionals who have an indepth knowledge and understanding of the disability and its associated medical complications, will provide a better future for all people born with this disability and their families.
